ABOUT US

OUR THERAPY HUB is an Interdisciplinary Team of Paediatric Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists and Physiotherapists who have a strong focus on Early Intervention and Family Centred Practice.  

Our Therapy Hub was founded by Lesley and Lindy who already had many years experience working together.  They have been very fortunate to be joined by other therapists who also bring extensive knowledge and experience working with children with disabilities and their families. 

The team has specialist skills working with young children who present with global developmental delay as well as specific motor, sensory and / or communication difficulties.  They also have experience working with children with a range of diagnoses including:  Down syndrome; Cerebral Palsy; Rett syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder. 

Our Therapy Hub’s inter-disciplinary and family centred team approach ensures a personalised, coordinated and comprehensive service to all children and families.

LESLEY MEEHAN - Speech Pathologist

Lesley has spent her entire professional career working with children with global developmental delay and / or complex communication needs.  During this time, she has developed extensive knowledge and skills working with children and families and providing a range of evidence-based interventions. Throughout her career, Lesley has been committed to continued professional development with key areas of training including:  

  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC):  Key Word Sign, PECS, PODD, ALS, Assistive Technology – including speech generating device and eye gaze technology.
  • Speech and Language:  Hanen – ITTT, MTW, Talkability, DIR Floortime, PROMPT
  • Eating and Drinking: SOS Approach to Feeding.

Lesley has extensive Key Word Sign experience including training as both a Makaton Representative and a Key Word Sign Australia Presenter. 

Lesley is Certified Practising Member of Speech Pathology Australia and a current Hanen Certified SLP.  She is also a member of a number of professional associations including:  Speech Pathology Australia, The Hanen Centre; AGOSCI (Australian Group on Severe Communication Impairment); and Key Word Sign NSW. 

Lesley is passionate about walking the journey with families, giving all children a “voice” and maximizing their communication and developmental potential.

LINDY SAUNDERS - Physiotherapist

Lindy commenced her Physiotherapy career, over 25 years ago, working in Acute and Outpatient care in Q Health Hospitals. She moved her career into musculoskeletal part time Private Practice which fitted in with her family life and she continues this aspect of her Physiotherapy Clinical Practice concurrently.

In 2005, Lindy joined the Multi-Disciplinary Paediatric Team at Ipswich Disability Services increasing her workload as her family grew. She has enjoyed every moment of her “Kids” Clinical Practice and Therapy is and has been “FUN”, because of her long association with Lesley, other Colleagues and Families.

Lindy is a Gold Member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association and is committed to ongoing Professional Development and Evidenced Based Practice.

With the introduction of the NDIA, Lindy wishes to continue this valuable Interdisciplinary Therapy, mentoring young Therapists and providing a safe and homely environment, grateful for the opportunity to be part of your child’s and family’s Achievements.

CLAIRE ANDERSEN - Speech Pathologist

Claire graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology with Honours in 2005. She is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist with extensive experience working with children with a disability and complex communication needs. She has spent the majority of her career working with children with a disability in Queensland Government roles, and more recently in private practice in Toowoomba and Ipswich.

Claire has extensive training and experience in the following areas:

  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) – PODD, PECS, Key Word Sign, aided language stimulation, assistive technology including alternative access and speech generating device prescription.
  • Eating and drinking (SOS Approach to Feeding).
  • Childhood speech and language delay and disorder (PROMPT, Hanen It Takes Two to Talk).
  • Autism and social communication difficulties  (DIR Floortime, Hanen More Than Words).

Claire is a member of Speech Pathology Australia, AGOSCI and The Hanen Centre. Her passion is to see children with significant physical and developmental challenges find a “voice” and learn the power of communication.

In her spare time Claire enjoys reading, Body Pump and Step classes, sewing and knitting, and hanging out with her very cute and busy niece and nephews.

MELISSA BYRNES - Occupational Therapist

Melissa is a registered Occupational Therapist with 15 years experience working in the field of paediatrics both in the private and public sector. Passionate about helping children to achieve their potential, Melissa has a strong family centred approach. She has extensive experience in working with children of all ages and levels of ability.

​Being a Mum to two young children has allowed her therapy style to develop to encompass the reality of family life. She believes in providing practical strategies to support children in their home and school environment to develop their skills and reach their goals.

She is committed to providing high quality, evidence-based care to her clients. She has completed professional development in the following key areas:

  • Circle of Security (COS)
  • DIR Floortime- Stage 1 and 2
  • Picky Eaters vs Problem Feeders: SOS Approach to Feeding
  • Play and Literacy. Learn to Play

LAUREN JAMES - Occupational Therapist

Description automatically generatedLauren graduated with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) from the University of Queensland in 2018. She has had a keen interest in Paediatrics since the beginning of her degree as she has grown up with a younger brother who has a disability and has seen the benefits of multidisciplinary intervention.  

Lauren’s interest areas include supporting self-care, fine and gross motor and promoting learning and development through play.  She has a passion for working with families, teachers and other clinicians to ensure a coordinated approach to therapy which supports children’s skills development across all areas.

Lauren is registered as an Occupational Therapist through Australia Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and a member of Occupational Therapy Australia.

LEILA ELLIOTT - Occupational Therapist

Leila graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy in 2010 and has since worked in Paediatrics in both Australia and the United Kingdom.  She has extensive experience across a wide range of settings including private practice, hospitals and the community.

Leila’s paediatric experience includes working with children and young people from 0 to 18 with a range of diagnoses including cerebral palsy and other complex movement disorders, muscular dystrophy, and autism.

Leila is passionate about working with children and their families to maximise their participation in daily life.

JULIA BECK - Physiotherapist

Julia has extensive experience working with children with range of disabilities and developmental disorders through her work with:  Disability Services Queensland; Education Queensland; St Andrews Hospital; and Private Practice.  

Julia's interests include working with children with orthopaedic, neurological and complex disability needs.

TANYA QUINN - Speech Pathologist

Tanya graduated with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) in 2018 from the University of Newcastle (NSW). Since this time she has worked in private practice in Newcastle, prior to moving to Griffith (NSW) where she worked as a Speech Pathologist in Aboriginal Health. Whilst there Tanya enjoyed playing sports, spending time with friends and exploring surrounding rural communities. Since moving to QLD in 2023 she worked again in Aboriginal Health prior to changing to Our Therapy Hub. 

Tanya's main interests are working within a multidisciplinary team to provide a holistic approach to clients and their families. Tanya knew she would commence her career in Paediatrics and loves supporting families to reach their goals and share in the milestones of her clients. 

In her spare time Tanya enjoys going spending time in her yard, scrapbooking and spending time with friends and family. Tanya often likes to fly back home to Newcastle (NSW) to visit family and friends.

ASHLEE HAMILTON - Speech Pathologist

Ashlee graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) in 2015. She has experience working in private practice, not for profit and educational organisations in Canberra /surrounding NSW and South East Qld. Ashlee took some time off work to grow her family and has since returned to work at Our Therapy Hub.
 

Ashlee enjoys working with children across all ages to support their communication needs. She has experience working with children who use AAC, as well as children who experience difficulties with speech, language, literacy, stuttering and social communication. Ashlee believes that families are integral members of their child’s therapy team and has worked closely with a range of professionals in multidisciplinary teams.

Throughout her career, Ashlee has completed regular professional development and further training including the Hanen It Takes Two to Talk program. Ashlee is also a Certified Practising member of Speech Pathology Australia.

Ashlee’s personal interests include raising her son, growing a sustainable food garden, sewing and working with her husband to restore their property in Ipswich.

OUR LOCATION

You will find us at 55 Robertson Rd, Raceview in a homely Queenslander in the community of Ipswich.

We have plenty of parking available with easy access to our therapy rooms. 

We mostly offer clinic-based services which include individual therapy sessions and combined sessions with other disciplines.  Home visits are negotiated according to family need and therapist availability.
